Update on career hunt: The nurse midwife program here at MUSC is closing after this year. So that's out of the running. Library Science is looking like the winner! The U of Al looks like a good distance program, but maybe someone could guide me there?

I can take a look.

What kinda librarian you wanna be? As in:
children's services
school librarian
systems librarian (geek)
technical services (I'll explain if you like)
collection development
academic
administrator

Clue: try to work in a library at some point. IME, good candidates have some sort of experience in that regard. It also lets you see the different types of librarians so you have a sense of which direction to take if you don't already know.

Hey! That's a good question...I think not children's or school, but the other kinds sound interesting. I'm going to look them up to see the descriptions and see if I can get a better idea.

I'm going to see if I can volunteer at one of the libraries here for more experience.

Thanks!

Check out any smaller schools around- like the junior colleges. Typically they have good nursing programs and you might be able to do the nurse midwife program at one of them. I know Highlands has one of the better nursing programs around here--- scary but true. May be the same situation in your area.
