Well, that sucks. Turns out someone I'd friended and had been reading on LJ isn't real at all. And I liked the person, a lot. I'd commented several times on their posts, so now I'm embarrassed that I didn't get the joke and everyone knows it, and hurt by the whole thing.

Now that I know what was going on, I understand, but I wish the creator had handled things better, because they are skilled enough to make people believe in it.

Edited to Add: Now that I'm less upset, I can see that it wasn't really their fault, because there were clues that the person was not as they seemed. I'm used to a lot of um, eccentricity, so I ignored those signs, to my own peril. I needed a cluebat not a cluefeather.

I don't like games and jokes that rely on proving you're an insider to work. The people who don't get it are ridiculed by the ones who do.

But then, I'm a simple and direct person; subtlety is lost on me, and I've been told I have no social grace. ::shrug:: I'm a peasant at heart.

**hugs!** Sucks, indeed. Much sympathy. I often feel like I'm missing inside jokes in my workspace and elsewhere.

I wonder if there are any LJs that don't contain clues that a person is not as they seem.
