My FIL is getting married on April 12th, a year and month after he buried his 2nd wife, to a woman who's been throwing away our mail. Including my W-2 and my prescription meds. She is not doing too much to negate the evil stepmonster stereotype.

I don't suppose reminding her that it's a federal offense to tamper with someone's mail would do any good?

Sadly no, because she has denied doing it and once again told my FIL how much we hate her and wouldn't it be easier if he just didn't have anything to do with us.

Wow. That is scary, not just because of the mail issue. I'm really glad you guys have your own space now. We've just been over warning signs of potential partner/friend abuse, and the "isolate" flag just popped up in my mind. **hugs**
