I hate not being able to sleep. I'm so tired but when I lay down, my heart feels like it's going to pound out of my chest. Until the beta-blockers from today fully kick in, or I"m so tired my body just shuts down, I'll be up. Sometimes for an hour or two, but many times til 4 or 5 in the morning. And then the baby wakes up about 7 and we start all over again. It comes and goes but these past couple of weeks have sucked.

Just A Suggestion

I've taken prescription sleep meds for years. Due to health issues on a larger scale (one being intracranial hypertension) my neurologist requested I discontinue the prescriptions and try a natural sleep aid. Now I take 6-9 mg. of Melatonin about 1/2 to 1 hour before bed. I find that I fall asleep more quickly than I did with the Ambien and Rozerem, and I don’t suffer from any of the nasty side effects of the prescriptions. I don’t have any morning grogginess. I can be awakened easily in the night. Best of all, I’ve found that some nights I don’t even need the Melatonin; where as I absolutely could not fall/stay asleep without the Ambien or Rozerem for the last seven years. Given that you have thyroid issues and take other prescription medications, you should check in with your doctor first, but it’s worth giving the Melatonin a try. FYI: I had wicked nightmares the very first night I used it (as did both daughters), but none since. Good luck!
