So, I haven't said much here lately because my mom's been in and out of the hospital for the last three and a half weeks with complications from shattering five of her ribs. I've gotten her to the emergency room twice on the point of dying, she's had surgery, chest tubes, an epidural, two nerve blocks and some medicine, probably fenergin, which made her have violent hallucinations for ten hours. Now I've packed her off to a nursing home for rehab because I'm a terrible daughter who refuses to nurse her bcak to health myself. (The nursing home has a bunch of animals runnig around, including a bunny. A _nice_ bunny!)

Both my sisters have been here, the oldest just left after a week and the middle has been here for a week and gone, but is back now for another week or so. Thank goodness. I could not have handled another minute of any of this by myself and could barely deal with them there to share everything. Too much ickiness.

Hopefully, three weeks in rehab will have her strong enough to negotiate the stairs at home and she'll be back on her own for the most part, but we'll see.

Stop with the terrible daughter. You're giving your mother professional care. Rehab is what they do. I'm prescribing you 100 ccs of doing something nice for yourself. Stat. And here's another for your sister.

Char, snippy told me of your mother's trouble. I'm so sorry that so much has landed on you. I'm glad your sisters have been able to help (rescue you) when you needed it most. I'm also glad that your mother is starting to heal. You are *not* a terrible daughter--your mom will likely improve faster with professional help.
