Update...Long
Jun. 12th, 2007 11:47 amWow, I haven't posted in a long time. Quite a bit has happened in the last month and a half.
1. We finished moving from GA to SC and are settled, mostly, in Acey's dad's house. The house is ok--it's a very badly put together modular home--like a double wide with delusions of grandeur--but his dad is hard to live with, especially now that he's drinking again. He also moved his 25 yrold girlfriend into the house while we were out of town. She's easier to live with than he is.
2. We went up to NYC for two weeks to see my sister and family. Had a great time. Ate tons of good food--roti and sushi and corned beef hash and all the goat cheese I could find. Tried some new (to me) places--Funky Diner, Good Enough to Eat, Popover Cafe...all of which were tasty. Spent time at the Natural History Museum, the Children's Museum, Central Park and Riverside Park. Bought shoes, of course, and a ton of video games at a shop going out of business. Went to LeeLee's Valise in Brooklyn--well worth the trek--amazing plus-size boutique. Alexander and Royce got along wonderfully--lots of hugging, kissing and sharing toys, very little shoving from either party.
3. Started a new job at Magnify.net as customer support. In my 3rd week and I think I'm getting the hang of it. It's very nice to telecommute and I ordered a new computer (macbook) for work--very exciting. I'm enjoying the work too--my position was described as the fire chief--helping people with their site problems--and I'm learning quite a bit about how everything works.
4. The baby turned 2 last thurs and we had a birthday party for him this past Sunday--he picked out his decorations at the party store so it ended up being Cars themed. A couple of little kids he knows came along with a nice number of our friends and we had a fish fry and cupcakes and he opened his billion presents. He would open one, play with it for a while and then go over to the present table and say "more? more?" It was very cute.
5. I got to go out without the husband or baby last night and hang out with some friends--we went to a dive and had yummy burgers and beer and talked about all kinds of girl stuff.
6. We're going to Alaska for two weeks in July to see my MIL who's in Anchorage for a couple of months for work. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
