Aiigh! No internet from the house! I tried to update my 1st pancake imac last nig and it quit in the middle because of "an error" and then I couldn't get to the internet. Safari is acting like the program is gone, leaving the icon and IE will open a window but then the cursor just spins, freezing the computer. Grrrrrr.

iPhoto still opens so I should be able to save my pics if all else fails.

Have you done the basic maintenance bits to confirm whether or not there's a corrupt file involved? Dr. Fly (lj genome kelly) is further ahead on using the tech tools, but he just sorted out a crash generating OS X problem last week using Tech Tools Pro. It turned out (in his case) to be extreme disk fragmentation. My own experience with assorted Macs and PCs is that corruption of the file containing your log-ins gets toasty, _or_if your router/base station/modem gets erratic, you can have some "interesting" problems connecting.

In my case, my connection problems last spring were due to a long broken telephone wire within the wall that didn't become apparent, as a problem, until my modem itself got techy _and_ there were server side changes that upped the speed and intensity of the bit torrent. Took Ma Bell and me a good week to sort out the problem. The compensation was that the technican who came out to fix the problem was very nice to look at. :)
