Labor Day Weekend thoughts
Aug. 31st, 2006 08:35 amI really think one of my students was drunk in class yesterday. Probably from the night before, but maybe not. He reeked of liquor and was all topply in his chair.
All my classes seem to have liked the movies we watched this week--World Lit saw the National Geographic Troy documentary (we're doing the Iliad right now) and the Comp II classes saw an old Vincent Price/Roger Corman film of the Fall of the House of Usher, which we've been reading.
P took me out to dinner last night with the baby--some other mom was behind us and her little boy was trying to play with mine. She suggested that her son wanted the cookies my child was eating instead of the pablum she was trying to feed him. "He can't have anything like that until he eats his mashed blueberries." Um, okay, my kid is not eating cookies--he's eating bits of our dinner and some cheese toast of his very own.
I get my check today--yay--so we can buy groceries/diapers/etc. It's ironic that we're the poorest we've ever been just before we get the biggest paycheck I've ever gotten.
On Fri, we're all heading to Kennesaw to get me a few things at the mall (new bras, foundation and some new pants since mine are all too big) and then over the Bass Pro Shops for my darling husband. Eventually, we're heading into Altanta to spend the weekend with my MIL. She's here on business but is staying over the weekend on vacation.
She was nice enough to get us a room in the hotel where she's staying and she'll babysit on evening so A and I can have some time together. For our date, we were going to go out, but decided to stay in, order room service and get a pay-per-view movie.
I think we might do the children's museum or the zoo one day too, and probably some shopping at some point. I know we're going to eat out a bit and I've been promised a trip to the Varsity http://www.thevarsity.com/ Mmmm...
