Things that have happened recently:
Aug. 11th, 2006 09:31 amWhew, let's see...
Last Tues we went to the beach (ok, a roped-off piece of sand on a lake at the state park) with some friends and their kids. Royce had not enjoyed the beach all that much when we went before, but this time he loved it. I think maybe it was seeing other kids having fun, but he played in the water, crawled around on the sand, and demanded to be bounced in the water (but not get water on his face--that was bad). We had been wondering whether he had gotten my skin or his father's and now we know. Both he and I were wearing spf 50 during the 2 hrs we were in the sun--afterwards he was a bit pink if you looked at him in the right light and I was lobster red. It's still not totally healed two weeks later. I think we're going back this Tues (I'll try to remember to reapply the spf on both of us).
I got my contacts and a new pair of glasses and Acey signed up for contacts too. He looks so cute. I've gotten a lot of nice comments about my contacts (or my lack of glasses really)--evidently my eyes are much more obvious now.
On Sat, a friend from work invited us over to her house for lunch. She has a very cute house and a nice husband--it made me feel a little bad about our apartment. I think we might put the baby in Mother's Morning Out (MMO) on Fridays so we can attend to the house and housely chores. And have sex.
We also went to the new coffee shop on Sat morning--had a cinnamon roll and walked up and down Broad St (like Main St in any other small town). It was so relaxing and the baby loved it. He took a very long nap afterwards.
Mon am, we left for Cashiers, NC to see my uncle and take a mini vacation. It was fun, surprisingly enough. My grandparents were so mean that I am still fairly cautious in their house--kept expecting to break some unstated rule and get in trouble even though they're both gone now. Uncle J is much more relaxed now--wore jeans and a t-shirt with a huge beard and got a dog which runs around the house freely. Found (the dog) was amazingly good with the baby. Went out to eat a few times and drove over to Highlands--such a disapointment, all super-ritzy and vaguely snotty. The uncle grumbled during the traditional hugging and picture taking and then slipped some cash into my purse to be discovered later.
When we got back, the baby, who had been whiny and clingy the whole week, took a nap and woke up with a high fever which he had until late yesterday. I wanted to take him to a doctor, but there's nothing to be done for a fever unless he had some fairly serious other symptoms. So we tylenoled and aired out and damp clothed and I hovered. He was up all night Weds which made the inservice for work very hard to stay awake through on Thurs. But last night he was feeling much better and slept well, so I'm more awake at work today. :)
