A long trip,
Sep. 6th, 2005 03:13 pmbut a good weekend. Whew, well, we're back safe and sound, if a trifle exhausted. The ride down was a little eerie because there was no traffic at all. There were stretched of interstate with only a couple of other cars, but the dreaded gas shortages and gouging never appeared. We got into Chas Sat afternoon and dropped off Sam at his grandma's, then went downtown to track down my mom, take her to lunch and drop off Madeline. She was very excited to see Reefer again and glad to take Madeline who missed me for about 1.5 seconds. We had lunch at Jestines--mmmm, corn fritters and fried shrimp. Oh, and sweet tea, good lord, the sweet tea.
Once we left my mom, it was time to head over to M&M's for their usual Sat football celebration (no football for me, but lots of chatting) where a good time was had hanging out with lots of old friends and one new one :) . H's new boyfriend is very nice, cute, and smart--I'm voting we keep this one around for a while. There were some weird tensions thanks to mixed politics, a pre-nup and an upcoming divorce
How many K's does it take to change a light bulb? Doesn't matter, E took all the bulbs.
Do you think it's bad of me a woman to think that women shouldn't be sportscasters? No, I think it's bad of you as a person.... That's what we love about you, Charlotte, you're always so soft-spoken.
Eventually, it was time to head back to H's for some more talkng, some tasty stuffed mushrooms, and then bed. Sun, Acey and I took my mom to see our father's headstone (finally has one after 17 years), which looks great (Engineer, Aviator, Educator) and then met H and her beau and Acey's Step-mom for lunch at Wild Wings--mmmmm, thai wings. Then the boys went back to M&M's and the girls went to the mall for some kamikaze shopping which netted the baby a few items, like a car seat pad and a giggle duck, and me about ten new tops, five skirts and two purses. All desperately needed since I'm wearing a combination of maternity clothes and pre-pregnancy clothes, none of which fit very well since I'm down about 20 lbs from my prepreg self, yay me. Aunt H took care of the bebe at the mall, and did a lovely job (we've drawn her to the babywearing side of the force.)
Sun night, Acey's dad was finally off the sandbar he'd spent the weekend stuck on and back home to hang out with his grandson and eat roast and potatoes. We watched a movie and then went to bed so we could get up way to early to start the ride back. There was more traffic on the way back, but only a little congestion right outside Fredericksburg and we got back to the loft abt 10pm, where there was a sprogasaurus very happy to see us.
