Aug. 15th, 2005 06:30 pmBaby got his first round of shots today--three injections and a total of seven immunizations--and we get another round in two more months. He did really well--cried at the poking and then fell asleep for a couple of hours. I gave him some baby tylenol just in case he's fevery and achy from the shots, but he seems fine now. He's 10 weeks tomorrow--24 inches and 13.5 lbs, which put him in the 80th percentile, approx, so he's caught up from last month. He's a little ahead developmentally, right now anyway, because he's already grabbing at things, smiling, and cooing. And, of course, he's way ahead in cuteness. Oh, and he's wearing new clothes because last week, he grew out of the 0-3 month size.:)
Things here are pretty good otherwise--the heat has been awful--it's hard for us to get out and walk to the library, for ex, when the heat index is over 100F. We had a storm last night though which made it a little cooler today.
Acey's been buying DVDs off the street since we can't get to the theater anymore--just saw Dukes of Hazzard--pretty darn funny and includes a special shout out to SuperTroupers fans. May actually go see a movie in the theater tomorrow thanks to ReelMoms, which is a special matinee for caregivers and kids at Loews on Tuesdays. Am also pumping this week so that Acey can take the baby by himself for a few hours this weekend--Royce is getting fussy if I'm not there, probably because he sees me much more and I'm the cow. Maybe I'll get a pedicure, mmmm. Oh, got my hair cut this weekend--look much less frumpy--it's a layered bob just below my ears with little bangs--like Louise Brooks but with layers.

Date: 2005-08-16 02:02 am (UTC)2) Pumping is good- Baby needs to learn independence from you-- first steps to eating real food.
3) I wish I could see your hair- I bet it is cute. I miss girly hair talk.
4) I wish you'd get your damned phone fixed (if its still broken)or answer it (if not)
I MISS YOU I MISS YOU I MISS YOU
p.s. If we do have a revolution- you guys get first dibs on the spare bedroom. Are ya'll coming for Samhain or is it going to be too soon after BDAY festivities?

How're you doing post partum-wise?
Are you thinking of being at home most of the time or will you be going out to work?

Date: 2005-08-17 10:30 am (UTC)I'm doing ok--it's still an adjustment sometimes having someone depend on me 24/7, but it's so much easier than when he was a newborn. And I'm all healed and everything so I can pick him up and we can go places which is a better deal than many c-section moms get.
We're planning on one of us being home with him as long as possible--right now it's me since I'm breastfeeding, but in a year or two, it could be Acey, we'll have to see. Neither of us can face dropping him of at daycare and we're lucky that we don't have a mortgage or anything so we can take the income cut ok.

Date: 2005-08-17 04:34 pm (UTC)Even bigger yay for your full recovery from delivery.
I was curious about ReelMoms when I saw it advertised at the local Loew's. I hope it works well and that you get to enjoy all that airconditioned surround sound goodness with the Reefer.
See you next weekend!
