May. 2nd, 2005 12:21 amWell, things are going a little better. After a frustrating week on the diet my midwife gave me, I met with the diabetes educators at Long Island College Hospital (LICH) last Weds, who gave me a much more sensible food plan and taught me how to test my blood. It took a couple of days to stabalize things, but my reading for the past few days have been consistently low, so I think I've got this under control. I go back in next Thurs (weekly appts), and hopefully they'll be pleased enough I can cut down on the testing... although they may not be pleased that I'm refusing the growth ultrasound next friday--the results are so often wrong though (as much as 2 lbs either way) and so often used to justify early induction/c-section because the baby's big.
Had a slight scare on Mon night after birth class--had trouble walking to the subway before class and was having contractions, then during class seemed to be leaking fluid (sorry, TMI I know)--called my midwives office to leave a message but they answered--told them what happened and she was surprisingly rude about it. Have been trying to give her some slack since it was around 8pm and she was still at the center with a birth, but didn't really like her attitude and am waiting to see how she is next time I go in. Anyway, had to head over to LICH to get monitored and have my amniotic fluid checked--went pretty fast--no waters broken, but mild contractions and a soft cervix--told to stay off my feet and take things easy.
Did make it in to the Chiropracter on Thurs (yes, my life is a crazy whirlwind of doctor's appts)--made me feel much better--adjusted everything from my neck to my pelvis, yay. Am going back on Tues for massage and more adjusting.
My insurance came in yesterday--PICAP, or medicaid for pregnant women--I'm covered from April 1st, which means I can submit receipts of stuff I've paid for already, until the end of August, and the baby's covered for a year after birth. Acey's insurance should kick in at his new job at the end of Oct, which'll be a big relief.
I need to take a belly picture and post it--you guys wouldn't believe how big I am now! And the baby's big enough that I can watch him kicking--my stomach moves.
My niece was here last weekend, which was awesome--she's really turned into a very interesting person (very pretty too)--we did some shopping and stuff--I wish I could've hung out more, but was feeling kindof immobile.
