T-Day Madness...

Still tons of cleaning to do, but ma soeur et la bebe (et il fils, bien sur) sont sur l'aero. Hmm, I may have just indicated they were riding on the outside of the plane. Idioms, gotta love em.

Anyway, so far the menu is shaping up:
butternut squash soup
fried turkey
gravy
cornbread dressing
cranberry sauce
biscuits
baked mac and cheese
green beans
sweet potatoes w/butter and brown sugar
rice and mushrooms
broccoli casserole
pie (pumpkin, pecan, key lime, and cherry)
ice cream

I'm starting to cook tonight and will finish up tomorrow--dinner's not until 5pm, so we've got plenty of time.

Does anyone know a good green bean recipe?

Hmmm, "voyagent en avion", peut-etre? My ability to verb sucks hard.

Best wishes to you and yours!

It's a long drive, but I think I can.

Green beans cooked in chicken broth. Mmm.

Served with toasted almond slices and a little butter!

Or you could go the other way (in a casserole dish with cream of mushroom soup, sprinkle with onion crisps).

Enjoy!

"Le fils" should be "le bel-ami" :-)

Good Lord, woman, I hope you are not doing all that.

I'm going to blanch my green beans today (2 minutes boiling water, drain, put in iced water, pat off, put back in fridge) and finish them up in the saute pan.

All sorts of possibilties - onion and mushrooms, use walnut/almond oil and nuts, garlic. I am not much of a Green Beans and Ham person but can reliably report that Spanish jamon makes really awesome beans.

Although with all the fancier food, plain might be nice!

Gotta go, I'm a bit behind in my prep.

Actually, he's "the boy" so I think the first usage was correct (for our family anyway). :)

And, no, I'm not doing everything myself--the turkey, gravy, biscuits, broccoli casserole, and 3 of the pies are from other folks.

I can't wait...Mmmmmm...

I knew exactly who you meant ;-) and what was going on. I'll have to check with my source for idiomatic translations (he no longer lives in) but I was getting mucked up with "fils" = "son". She's got one of those ;-)

Sounds yummy! have a wonderful one.

I must go and wash some more glassware. I have officially punted on making rolls (last minute guest will be bringing them) so will have time for a nice Lush bath.

I make a slightly-spicy green-bean thingy by sauteeing blanched green beans in a little butter and a few good glugs of Red Hot or Crystal hot sauce.
