My boss thinks I'm stupid. Can I tell you how much I hate that? Can I stand another year or so at this job where I get talked to/about like I'm an idiot? And it's completely unfair because most of the time it's my boss who's wrong.

My evaluation was completely crappy--not a single exceeded expectations--but on the other hand, all I hear is how much better I am than all the previous people in my position, how accurate, how good with tenants, blah blah fishcakes.

And, to make things worse, I'm pretty sure that the asst manager has been talking crap to the manager about me.

Aaaaack!

Such a bizarre place--so much politics, so many rules, so much incompetance.

I can get written up for insubordination. Which includes sarcasm.

Heh. Yes, especially here where things have now been declared similar to the Great Depression. I was lucky to find this job, but sometimes I need to vent about how frustrating it can be. I have been keeping an eye on the classifieds and job sites, but nothing so far.

Next time they praise you, try to get it in writing. Bad evaluations give them the flexibility to fire you "with cause", which IME means that you lose out on unemployment insurance. (Your state may vary.)

Beyond that, of course, you have the talent and right to work at a job that doesn't suck.

Well, there wasn't anything bad per se in my evaluation--it just wasn't good. Satisfactory across the board, sortof like geting all Cs. And I won't be able to get anything in writing--that's just not how they do things here. But we're planning on moving in about a year, and I get 18 days of vacation plus 11 holidays plus every other Friday off (flex schedule), which usually more than makes up for how angry I can get here.

And, thank you. :) I understand why my boss feels the way she does, but it's nice to hear someone else agree that she's wrong.

You're good enough, you're smart enough, and -- doggone it! -- people like you!! (Hey, why do you think they're called Daly Affirmations?)

your boss is an idiot if he thinks you're stupid. time for a change, or too much change elsewhere right now?

*hugs* for you!

Thank you!!! I could use many hugs.

That's one of the things I've been thinking about--I'm only going to be here another year or so and the benefits kick ass, plus I've got to deal with moving this week and then the wedding, and I want to use all my accumulated vacation to see my new nibling.

So, unless things get significantly worse, I think I'm going to stick it out and make use of the advantages of the job, like the vacation and insurance, and try to shake off the more egregious problems.

Oh, my. Much sympathy. Back when I couldn't get a teaching job because I was "too smart" and I was hanging on to the Ponderosa gig for insurance, I got one of those lovely evaluations because they didn't want to give me a raise. I did a great job, they said orally, but they needed to keep the average hourly wage below a certain amount and I was already well above the average. It sucked, and I started planning my escape, but I was there for another year or so.

Hang in there! It sounds like you have good reasons for sticking it out in the short run. You know you're far more capable than they are, and that undoubtedly figures into their evaluation of you.

Heh, yes, it's very much like that. And it's better lately--partly because I'm not caring as much. I also took a couple of days off while we've been moving to lie around and watch bad tv and nap with the dogs--it was extremely relaxing. :)

It sounds lovely. I now have new downstairs neighbors who seem to like loud music and to not be employed, so I'm looking into the moving thing. Not that I want to, especially this time of year!
