Jan. 29th, 2009 05:37 am Yesterday was sortof a hormonal up and down time. I'm hoping today will be a bit better. I'm guessing if I take my pain meds a bit closer together that will help since I think I waited too long in the afternoon and ended up being very ouchy and with some sort of muscle pain in my back. On the plus side, all the stuff got taken out--catheter, IV, leg cuffs, etc and I got to take a shower, but on the con side, my mom never came to see me and Acey only got to come by for a bit since he had Royce all day (but a huge thank you to Uncle Tim who babysat for a couple of hours in the afternoon so Acey could come hang out for a bit). Also, the pain was more than expected, but I think I've got that under control now--took both my percosets last night instead of just one, but still it was hard to realize I felt worse than I had, of course, getting up and walking around will do that.
Anyway, am now drugged and sleepy--hopefully will nod off soon. :)

Date: 2009-01-29 01:29 pm (UTC)Some of the best advice I got after my hysterectomy came from Piglet and Lorre - it will hurt for longer than you think it should and you will be tired for longer than you think it should. And on the days when you feel good, be careful not to do too much or you'll regret it later.
Take care of you!

Date: 2009-01-29 04:21 pm (UTC)I do not know how it is to have a young child and a baby during recovery, but I imagine it is a magnitude harder. Take it easy. It is early for you to be concerned about taking the pain meds. Your body needs it right now. Someone told me your body will heal faster if it is not in pain because it doesn't spend energy on the fight/flight to escape the pain. Whether that is true or not, you don't need to be in pain at this point.
Relax as much as possible. This will pass. Gentle hugs.
