Wheel of morality, turn, turn, turn
Jan. 8th, 2009 10:06 amAnd the lesson is....um, maybe to try to work things out before getting freaked out?
So one of the guys I work with has an air compressor he's collecting from his house now and one of the others has offered to put on the spare if need be. If the tire holds air, I should be able to get a patch put on pretty cheaply this afternoon at Hay or Gerald's. Otherwise, the spare will get me over there to get a new tire.
ETA: Woot! I forgot the spare is a full size tire! So the boys have changed it and now I just have to get another tire to put on if this happens again.
I got Acey an emergency appt and he's taking off work whether he officially has permission or not since if he doesn't get his shoulder fixed, he'll be no good for the rest of the winter anyway. I caught my mom before she left so he has a ride over there and since the checkbook is at the house, he can stop by and pick that up on the way.
The account rep at the hospital said they understood abt the HSA problem and not to worry and she noted the issue in my chart in case she wasn't there to check me in.
The cable thing is not a big deal--it was just one of those final straw things--but other than missing Top Chef and 2am Criminal Intent/CSI, there's not much else we watch on a regular basis. I may put some CSI on netflix so I have some middle of the night nursing tv to entertain me. Be nice to have some for laboring at home too (I know it's weird but it's like my Law and Order--I find it super relaxing--perfect for middle of the night viewing).
The IRS thing just sucks. Plain and simple. But it is not the end of the world. They will do a payment plan, at least, and our refund should cover a chunk of it. And since Acey's the only barn person this winter, we'll have more income than I thought which will make up for the budget difference. And we should be able to pay off the rest with my next student loan chunk in August.
What was the other thing? Oh, my laptop. Yeah. I still got nothing to Pollyanna there. I guess I'll wait until the local guy calls me back and then see what my options are. I could see how much it would be to get fixed locally, whether we could qualify for the apple payment plan on a new one (aigh), or take my MIL up on her repeated offer to buy me a new machine (like a dell--better than nothing?), or decide whether I can just keep going to the library for my classes.
The library makes sense and is the cheapest option, but it wil be a bit-ca--it's hard to talk and participate in class in a library for one thing, and for another, I'd wanted to avoid being gone from 7-10pm twice a week this semester and 7-11pm twice a week next semester with a nursing babe in the house. Plus the part with the research, etc...I think I'm going to have to go the get it fixed or replaced route. Poop.
