Wow, what a difference a few weeks can make! Thank you all for your support after my 36 week melt-down--it was nice to feel less alone in my misery. :) The last week or so has been much better--the baby has turned head down all of a sudden and a lot of the pain I was in from him being transverse is gone. My pelvis is better (although still a bit ouchy), the heartburn is better, I'm more used to the random contractions, and I'm slightly less hormonal (although my mom and partner might not agree with that).
The scheduled c-section, which was for this morning, was cancelled--we're on track for a regular delivery, although from my OB's notes in my chart (which I always read on my way to check out) she's thinking I'm going to end up with another section anyway since the baby's size is estimated to be so huge. (Size at this point is judged by guessing, so I'm not really worried abt that, certainly not enough to schedule another section.)
39 weeks today means that the baby could come any time in the next three weeks! My OB is on call this weekend, so that would be cool, but whenever. At 41.5 they'll want to start talking about induction, etc, but most babies come before then so I'm not worrying abt that right now--just trying to make sure that everything on the list is checked off, since not only is the baby coming soon, but classes start on Thurs and my MIL is coming for a week on Fri!

Date: 2009-01-06 03:31 pm (UTC)I've heard that large babies are actually easier labor because the body can feel them better and the contractions are more effective. I have no idea if this is true. Anecdotally, both my sister and I were huge (my sister was over 10 lbs), and my mom's labor was easy and fast both times.
Good luck! You're in my thoughts!
