A cup of hot chocolate.

What's your favorite cheese?
Goat!!! Mmmmmmmmmm....My BIL once gave me a goat cheese sampler for Xmas, bc I love it so much.

What's your favorite fish?
No idea. I mean, I love fish, but it totally depends on the dish. I'm a big fan of salmon (broiled, sashimi, smoked, etc), but I like lots of different fishes, including anchovies.

What's your favourite fruit?
I'm allergic to most fruits--back in the day, my favorite was either strawberries or plums, but now, I guess I'd say...grapes.

When, if ever, did you start liking olives?
I've always liked black olives and am liking some other kinds more.

When, if ever, did you start liking beer?
Eh. Still not a big fan.

When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish?
At birth? Seriously, I grew up on the coast--I ate my first raw oyster as a tiny thing.

What was the best thing your parent/s used to make?
It's been a long time. My mom made the best chocolate chip cookies ever and lemon bars and these things called $100,000 bars that were amazing and this cake with two layers of icing, one almost pure sugar covered by one of unsweetened chocolate. Heh, I see these are all dessert items.

What's the native speciality of your home town?
She-crab soup--a creamy, crab meat soup. V,

What's your comfort food?
Fried, bready things. Pizza rolls, fried chicken, mashed potatoes w/gravy or fries, grilled cheese

What's your favorite type of chocolate?
hershey's special dark or almost any chili infused chocolates

How do you like your steak?
very rare, pan seared

How do you like your burger?
All kinds of ways. I love the ones with the blue cheese, bbq sauce and onion rings, but also am a big fan of roasted red peppers and goat cheese, or ketchup/relish/mustard/cheese.

How do you like your eggs?
Not very eggy tasting. This usually means with a bread product--scrambled eggs w/cream cheese on toast, quiche, egg salad

How do you like your potatoes?
Fried, baked, scalloped, etc. Big fan of shredded, covered and smothered.

How do you take your coffee?
Sweet and light as we say around here or regular as they say in the city. Also foofy with flavorings and whipped cream. (love peppermint mochas w/whipped cream)

How do you take your tea?
Hot tea: earl grey w/sugar and cream. Ice tea: sweet, no lemon

What's your favorite mug?
The Mom mug we bought in Disney World on our anniversary when Royce was 4 months old. Acey got a Dad one and we use them all the time.

What's your cookie of choice?
Chocolate chip. preferably w/buterscotch chips also.

What's your ideal breakfast?
Dude, this survey is reminding me how much I like food. :) 1. Waffle House: raisin toast, over easy eggs, hashbrowns smothered and covered. 2. Crab cake benedict w/fruit. 3. Soft scrambled eggs w/cheese and toast and some kind of potatoes. 4. Brioche at the Silver Spoon and lattes. 5. Chicken and waffles w/pimento cheese grits at Bookstore Cafe.

What's your ideal sandwich?
I don't eat a lot of sandwiches, but I really like wraps and pita-y things: schwarma, falafel, chicken caesar wraps...oh, and I do like some sandwiches a lot: cheddar and branson pickle, almost anything w/chutney, pimento cheese, ham or egg salad, fresh tomato on white bread w/mayo, grilled cheese, pineapple, fried egg...

What's your ideal pizza (topping and base)?
I love NY style cheese or white pizza. Also onions and anchovies on thin crust. Oh, and one w/ricotta and spinach.

What's your ideal pie (sweet or savory)?
Savory: meat pies, steak and kidney pie, w/HP sauce. Sweet: Hmm. Blackberry? Really almost any fruit. And chocolate cream pie.

What's your ideal salad?
Caesar. Also fried chicken w/honey mustard. Broccoli salad.

What food do you always like to have in the fridge?
Cheese

What food do you always like to have in the freezer?
Popsicles for the little guy.

What food do you always like to have in the cupboard?
Pasta.

What spices can you not live without?
Does balsamic vinegar count? Salt.

What sauces can you not live without?
pasta sauces, salsa

Where do you buy most of your food?
Walmart plus we get a CSA box weekly.

How often do you go food shopping?
Where we live now, we shop every two weeks with a weekly quick stock up for milk, etc.

What's the most you've spent on a single food item?
Prepared or single ingredient? Hmm. Probably some kind of fish or cheese.

What's the most expensive piece of kitchen equipment you own?
Maybe some of the knives?

What's the last piece of equipment you bought for your kitchen?
I bought a kitchen aid juicer attachment on clearance at BB&B the other day.

What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without?
? Pans? Bakeware? The oven?

How many times a week/month do you cook from raw ingredients?
We use raw ingredients just about every day thanks to the CSA box of veggies.

What's the last thing you cooked from raw ingredients?
We made skillet pasta last night w/a ton of fresh veggies.

What's your favorite thing to make for yourself?
Something easy like cheese quesadillas and chips and salsa. Oh, or stuffed crescent rolls, or if the family is away, something from the freezer like pot pies.

What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig, chicken and turkey?
Well, all kinds of fish/shellfish. Plus: lamb, rabbit, all kinds of birds (duck, pheasant, quail, cornish game hens, etc), deer, wild boar, caribou, squirrel, o'possum, snake, alligator...and I'm sure there's stuff I can't remember. Oh, horse in Paris.

What's the last time you ate something that had fallen on the floor?
Last night.

What's the last time you ate something you'd picked in the wild?
I don't do much in the wild.

Wow. That's hard-- I mean, I like diferent things from each and at different times. But. I'll go with: French, Italian, Japanese, Indian, Thai.

Vodka, brandy, tequila, rum. And the only one I really like is vodka.

I'm abashed at how much I like fast food, but we don't get it much anymore. I'l say Taco Bell and the nachos bellgrande, a steak taco and a chicken quesadilla.

Victoria and Albert's at Disney World

What's your choice of tipple at the end of a long day?
A nice cool glass of water.

I love reading the Alton Brown cookbooks, the Jamie Oliver one we have and the America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated ones.
