Oct. 3rd, 2008 08:37 amOur goal for this weekend is not to visit a hospital. After my trip to the ER two weeks ago, we had to drive to the hospital in Jacksonville, NC to visit my FIL who had possibly had a heart attack, but maybe not. After driving 5 hrs there, we get there just in time to see the cardiologist who has good news--not a heart issue, probably something nerve or muscle related. We turn around to drive the 5 hrs home, and fall into bed. Whew. FIL comes home to see his own doctor, have stress test, MRI, etc and tentative diagnosis is arthritis in his shoulder and back. Yikes! That really sucks, especially since he has a job with a lot of repetitive shoulder movement. Well, honestly, he doesn't do much of that anymore, since he's the captain. But he can't go back to work until Nov 10th, so we'll be driving out to Huger to see him a couple of times.
Yesterday was our anniversary (4 married, 6 together) and KS offered to watch R while we went out. Went to Coco's for tasty french food and then did the grocery shopping (w/out the kid, heaven). Coco's was ok--food was tasty, but it was empty when we got there so we didn't request a secluded table and then the 4 top next to us was seated with 4 older republicans w/boats who talked v. loudly about politics, lobster dinners in Maine and hemorrhoid surgery. Awesome. We shared lobster bisque (nice but too delicate for my taste), escargot (w/puff pastry, mmm), caesar salad, hanger steak w/frites and shallot fondue, assorted pates, and milk chocolate mousse. Was quite nice but hard to enjoy w/the table next to us--A swears he heard one of them use the N-word when talking abt politics, he had to explain later why he had choked at one point. The evening went way downhill towards the end, when I thought we were stopping for coffee or something to chat more, and he thought we were going home, bc it was 9 and he had to work in the am. It ended up in a big fight but I think we managed to talk it out before bed. Sadly, that left us no time to watch Heroes. R was still up when we got home, but fell asleep in my lap abt 10 min after KS left.
