Sep. 24th, 2008 08:58 amWatched Episode 1 of True Blood last night on an asian streaming video site with subtitles. Was pretty good, I thought, accents and stereotypes aside. Looking forward to catching up in my copious free time. *snicker* Have just the finale of BSG 3 to watch and then will wait for season 4 to come to netflix, which should give us time to decide what we want to watch from the new tv season. Heroes, of course, and we need to catch up there too, although just one ep so far. Figured out we could buy five shows a week for a full season from itunes and it would cost about the same as 1 1/2 months of cable. So no longer feeling guilty abt itunes purchases (and luckily, most things are free anyway, somewhere.) If anyone has any tv recs, I'd love to hear them. :)
Had a weirdly relieving experience this weekend. Was supposed to go to the Scottish Games with friends but wasn't feeling well, so stayed home and rested. By which I mean I cleaned and cooked and rearranged stuff. This did not make me feel better. By the afternoon, I was on the couch fully dizzy and nauseous, and then my shoulder started to hurt. And I mean, _hurt_! Normally, I would've taken some tylenol and complained a lot but that exact kind of shoulder pain can be a really bad thing in conjunction with rising BP. BP check--170/90. If it was this bad thing (HELLP syndrome) then it's a liver thing so I didn't want to take any tylenol. My mom came over to watch R, A came home from work, and off we drove to the emergency room, just to be sure. They were super nice and efficient at the hospital--did not mock me for being a crazy pregnant woman, and were worried enough abt my BP and other symptoms that they put in a heplock right away. Ow! All the tests came back normal, yay, but they made me stay until my BP went back to normal. It was a huge relief to know that things were ok--I could go home and take tylenol and not worry about the baby. Stayed on the couch for two days while my shoulder healed and to get used to a higher BP med dose, but now things seem fine. Will need to take things easy for the next few months--my BP definitely goes up easily when I do too much. Normally, I'd be all excited abt an excuse to be lazy but for some reason it's driving me crazy not to be able to do stuff in the house.
Our budget has been going really well. really well. We've been cooking and taking leftovers to work, eating breakfast b/f work so I don't stop at starbucks, etc...and it's working. I might even be able to get some stuff for the baby this next month. :) (So want to get more diapers--clothes diapers are so freaken cute!!) It's also kindof nice being so domestic, and it helps that my darling husband finally understands that we need to stick to a grocery budget, so we've been working together on meal planning.
Had a date Friday night, with an actual babysitter. Went out for Greek food, mmm, cheap and tasty and then to see Burn After Reading at the indie theater. Forgot how depressing a Cohen Bros movie can be.
