Jul. 30th, 2008 10:27 amTaking my mother to the movies (Casablanca) went something like this...
In the car after picking her up: Her, "You don't have to go with me tonight. I mean, I can go tomorrow at 1pm. I just don't want to put you out." Side note: We've been talking about this for a _month_.
At the movie, the lights go down, the early credits roll, the announcer talks about WWII, a hush falls over the theater: Her, loudly, "You Aunt E went to Morocco during the war with her family." Me, "Cool. Shhhh." Her, "No _Really!_ She did!" Me, "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
Lather, rinse, repeat.
I said, "shh" a lot and also, "Stop clicking your nails!"
I won't even get into the snickering at inappropriate moments (you know, people getting shot or kissing, etc)--it's like taking a 12 yr old out.
She loved it though and was so glad she went. I'm taking her to Lawrence of Arabia next month.
