charlottezwebLast night, around 7pm, AEF and REEF and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood. We bought drinks at the corner store and then decided to turn left instead of right so that we were headed away from the playground (a little too late). Since we were already headed that way, I suggested we walk the block over to King St so I could look in the windows of the super secrit Apple Store that's opening on Sat. On the way, I noticed a new sign: Creative Dentistry, Dr XXXX. So of course, I start babbling about it.
"Honey, look at that sign. Creative dentistry? What the hell's that?"
AEF starts laughing, "Maybe he doesn't use pain meds or uses pliers or something"
"Maybe he does a lot of tooth decorating?" I add. "Anyway, it's a terrible slogan. Going to the dentist is scary enough without worrying that they'll be creative. I wonder what he was thinking?"
And then, as we pass by and get to the corner, a voice from the street yell, "Hey!" Two men are crossing the road carrying blinds. One is laughing, the other, well, not. He looks pissed. Glaring at me, he says, "Watch what you say! I own that business."
I stop and turn around first to ask him exactly what his sign means then and second to address the idea that I need to watch what I say about his sign. But seeing me turn and starting to talk, he runs into the building.
Um. That's an interesting way to approach the situation. Cause I wasn't bad mouthing him but now I am. Way to go.
The Apple Store was worth the trip though, if only because it's still shrouded in secrecy. The store went from rumor to fact in only a few months and yet there's still no sign or advertising. The windows are covered in paper but we were able to peer in a crack to see the rows and rows of shiny white yumminess. Well, not we--AEF thought it was beyond silly; of course he's not even excited about the grand opening. Philistine.
