Has anyone used either a genius bar or an authorized apple repair center?

I have applecare and a broken laptop--I can either drive 4 hours to have it looked at at the genius bar or pay $65 to have a repair person look at it here. My concern is that this isn't a very mac heavy place so I don't know how much mac experience the techs have.

ETA: Never mind!!! The grand opening of the Apple Store in my hometown in this SAT!!!!! From rumour to fact in less than 6 months. Awesome!

I have taken my mac laptop a few times to a repair shop in West Ashley in the same shopping center as the Outback. The guy is awesome and if you have applecare it doesn't cost anything. He is really nice!!! Check him out.

No doubt! My mom went with me to drop off my macbook on Sunday and fell in love with the iphone--she's completely technologically illiterate, but wants to buy one, "cause you just mash things on the screen! I can do that," she says. :)

I should find out today whether the motherboard is hosed and if so whether apple care will cover it. *fingers crossed*

That's cool! I just managed to swing a spot in the ambrose farms one, so I'm super excited and reviewing all my zucchini recipes for the fall. :)

fall! Isn't that cool?!? I was really surprised but I went ahead and signed up for the waiting list last week and then got an email like two days later that said they were expanding the membership to 800 and opening it up to the waiting list and then the general public. I jumped on it and paypalled them right then so we're all set for fall. yay! I'm so excited. :)
