charlottezwebMy holiday weekend was pretty nice. Finally got mostly rid of the cold I had at the start of the week, yay, so i could do more than stagger home from work to drink tea and go back to bed. Friday, I picked up my mom around noon and took her to lunch at On the Border. Tried to take her to a movie but she would have none of it. Took her home, went to see Get Smart. It was...ok. Steve Carell is adorable of course and I love the Rock, but I still had some issues overall.
Saturday was more mom time--went to the Habitat for Humanity ReStore sale--bought a few little things. Took my mom to Mustard Seed, which she didn't like, even though we used to go all the time. Established that she doesn't like places with risotto, weird salads and weirder soups. Was surprised that i was planning on taking A back there for the crab dip (hot dip with lump blue crab, roasted red peppers, corn)--"does he like this kind of place??" Um, yes. Just because he has a penis doesn't mean he wouldn''t like the sweet potato bacon soup, for instance. But whatever. I almost offered to take her doggie bag of crabcakes home with me, since you know, she didn't like them. Heh.
Dropped her off, went home, read a book, relaxed, etc. Just as I was relaxed, a knock on the door. Momma. *sigh*
Sunday, dropped momma's glasses off at the house, and escaped off the island. Well, off the peninsula. Had broken my glasses that morning, so wore my contacts for the 1st time in forever--picked up new contact case at the drug store. Had lunch at target, loaded up my purse with contraband (soda, m&ms), went to see Hancock and then Kung Fu Panda. Hancock much better than expected and a bit darker, Kung Fu Panda--made of awesome. I _loved_ it. Had supper at Five Guys (yummy burgers and fries), went home to discuss cruise plans with sibling. (Not for me--she and mother are going on cruise) more reading and then bed. Aborted try at bed after realizing that deadbolt on back door defective--intruder would just have to break glass in door and turn handle lock. Got back up to turn on all house lights and then played DS Lite for a while.
Talked to partner and offspring several times--seem to be having fun--A now wants to move to COLO--almost as beautiful as Alaska, he says.
