Things are not improving on the allergy front. I can't remember if I posted my last allergic discovery, but I don't think I did. I was so disgusted after the blue/black berry incident that I've just been ignoring it all, but a few weeks ago I realized I was suddenly allergic to, wait for it,..., peanut butter. Which means, most likely, peanuts in general, although it's rare I eat an actual peanut. But peanut butter???? What the hell ever. I adore peanut butter. On a spoon, with jelly, in a toasted cheddar cheese sandwich, with banana, with raisins, and the list goes on. It was one of the only things I could eat last time I was pregnant. And it's freaking hard to remember that I can't eat it anymore--I find myself about the pop the crusts from the baby's pbandj into my mouth or to eat peanut butter cookies. Grrr.

Then, last night I went over to a friend's for Frogmore Stew, as A and R and some others ahd been crabbing all day. Blue crabs, shrimp, little corn on the cobs, sausage and onion boiled up in a big pot with old bay. Mmmmmmmmmmm! When I got home my throat was swollen and I had to take Benedryl. No idea what it was, although I ate mostly shrimp. I refuse to be allergic to shrimp. Not going to happen. Damn it.

Oh, how frustrating for you! My allergies didn't start kicking in until I was mid-30s; only last year I suddenly became allergic to pineapple (huge itchy rash when I eat it, even cooked). I love my immune system but it is a bit hyperactive, darn it.

NOES!!!!!!!

I hope if there's one thing I'm able to do for my son, it's stimulate the fuck out of his immune system. I don't know if it will help, but it's the leading theory. So you can blame Mamma for keeping our house too clean. Or something.

I am so sorry!!!

Or something, dammit. Even though Momma has always sworn that I don't have "hayfever" because Ann's the only one with allergies, remember Tom had to stop smoking in the house when I was a little thing. I think it's just part and parcel of the whole auto-immune thing--you got inflammation and I got allergies. yay.
