Well, let me start of by saying that everything is fine and that things will work out somehow. Heh.

So yesterday was quite an interesting and emotional day. I had my first ultrasound (u/s) to date the butter bean, and while we were thinking I was about 10 weeks for a number of reasons, we were wrong. I'm five weeks today. This is a little alarming because a. It means that the 1st trimester has barely begun and I was sick as anything last time; b. I'm already popping, I bought maternity pants last weekend, and I'm going to ginormous by January; and c. I thought I was almost out of the riskier time zone but it's barely begun. I am glad that we went thought as she's referring me to an endocrinologist for the thyroid stuff.

Then we went for a celebratory lunch, just Acey and I, at Wild Wings. Mmmm, nachos. We got to pay and out debit card is declined. luckily, Acey has enough cash to cover it, although it was a crappy tip, and we go across the street to the bank to see what the problem is as we had several hundred dollars in the account that morning. Oh, an extra rent payment has been taken out. What???? Turns out, the online bill pay that I set up a year ago and couldn't ever get to work suddenly came to life and sent a rent check out. Aigh!!!! So not only do we not have any money in the account, in order for the bank to pay one rent and the other check that's come through (car payment) and send the other rent back, we have to deposit $188 by 11am this morning. Nice. Acey's taking care of that right now, but it made for a stressful afternoon, capped off by the letter waiting for me when we got home...

From the IRS. We were audited! Yes, they audited a stay at home mom and a pizza delivery guy. Evidently, the tip amount Acey declared and his workplace declared don't match, so we owe $1000. At this point, I just collapsed in laughter, we watched Buffy and went to bed at 9. Today has to be better.

***hugs***

I got that sort of letter from the IRS and I was a salarywoman. (Shocked my hairdresser and a lot of my self-employed friends.) They questioned a deduction I took for a class (which I was prepared to not deduct but my tax guy said it was ok) and my charitable. My charitable is under 10%. Has the IRS apparently not heard of religious people tithing?

Horrid stress, especially as they take forever to answer you, and the penalties keep on accruing. *BIG HUGS*

I had my return that year done by an EA, so he did a lot of the talking. Finally got them to back down.

A church friend says he gets That Letter every year. Not because he is an architect with his own practice ... but because of his charity. The sucky thing is that they have taken that stuff away from the local offices. Scott (pal) says that he just used to haul himself and his paperwork downtown but it's out of somewhere else.
